News / Why We Made Appvidyo
Appvidyo is a site that was built out of necessity. We have iPads and love to play games on them, but the chance of buying a relatively unknown game and having it actually be fun and worth the money was a coin flip.
We decided that it would be really useful for people to be able to see actual gameplay footage of what a game is like before going through with purchasing it (as long as there wasn’t a free version). This is when Appvidyo was born.
We had the idea, but we needed to make sure we weren't going to be wasting our time if someone has already made a similar site. After researching and searching YouTube we discovered that most app gameplay videos are recorded off screen and in low quality. We did find a couple sites that offered good, high quality videos but clearly were only focused on advertising income as EVERY link on their site was some kind of affiliate or adsense link.
After our research it was clear to us, create a simple, straightforward site that offers nothing but high quality HD videos of actual gameplay. No crazy ad’s or popups, just a clean easy to read/view interface that gives you exactly what you want, videos. We did decide to give our two cents on each game we play but we figured there was enough sites with in-depth essay reviews so we will stick to what we know, video.
